Treats |
Every morning you should be prepared to make food, and provide fresh water for your bird, they should be given lots of veggies, or parrot chop, chop is mainly made from bits of vegetables and different seeds. You should have a food bowl specifically for fruits and vegetables to put it in. Chop can be made from a blender, and it can be hand made.
Parrots should also have a bowl for pellets, and a bowl for a small amount of seeds, these can be changed daily and/or when needed. |
Birds love treats, but they should not be given as a food, this is a common mistake made by many. You can give your birds treats every now and then, and on special occasions, treats also are used as rewards for training and can be hidden in foraging toys, two rather common treats for small and medium size birds are millet spray, and nutri-berries.
Food and water bowlsEvery aviary should have at least one vegetable bowl, one pellet bowl, one seed/nut bowl, and one water bowl.
For small and medium birds, plastic bowls are okay, but still, stainless steel is better. For very large birds, stainless steel bowls are the best option, for they could easily break a plastic bowl. There are many different styles of bowls, a common style is the normal round one, for smaller birds, plastic bowls can come with lids to prevent mess. |
